SEO Book

Mikkel deMib Svendsen

I released my first book about Search Engine Marketing back in 1998 on IDG Publishing here in Denmark where I live. The book was in Danish, so most of you probably never saw or read it. But considering how small the Danish market is and how little awareness of search marketing there was in 1998 I am pretty proud of the almost 6,000 (hard) copies it sold.
Back then – in 1998 – there was not any real SEO books on the market. We had Frederick Marckini’s first SEO paper that was part of the Webposition (before Gold) software, Danny Sullivan’s Search Engine Watch, Jim Wilson’s  Search Engine Forums and not much else of any real quality.
Today there are literally hundred of SEO Books and papers on the marked and 10s of thousands – if not more – SEO websites, blogs, forums, conferences etc.
So what do we need another SEO Book for?
I have asked myself that same question for years when people have asked me to write a new SEO book. But the more I have thought about it the more I have come to the conclusion that there is in fact real use for yet another SEO Book …
A SEO book that cover a broader perspective of search engine marketing – such as reputation management in search, advanced technical SEO and SEO risk management. A more “complete” reference book for advanced search engine marketing
A SEO Book that are more goal oriented and less focused on what Google want you to do. A SEO book that teaches you when its wise to go outside the standards – and when not, and learn how to do it
A SEO Book that go into greater details about how you deal with more advanced technical SEO issues. Not just how you solve problems but also how you use advanced web publishing technologies to optimize your website better than any static website could ever be
A SEO Book that present multiple strategies – not just one “right” way of optimizing your website because every website, every market and every business is different
The book is in fact already written! I released it in June 2009 but so far it is only available in Danish. However, if you do read Danish please go ahead and check out SEO 2.0 – there is even a free version you can download to check for yourself if you like it before you buy the full version.
I am working on the English version of the SEO Book. I can’t say for sure when it will be out but I will promise you that I will announce it here when it is and I also promise you it will be well worth your money and time.
